Maintenance Assistant

Job Location Unity School of Christianity - Unity Village, MO 64065 Salary Range $17.00 - $21.00 hourly Position Summary Provides entry‑level maintenance and labor support for campus facilities, grounds, and infrastructure. Assists skilled maintenance personnel with preventative maintenance, repairs, construction projects, and general campus upkeep. Performs routine maintenance tasks while developing knowledge and skills across multiple facility trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and grounds maintenance. Essential Job Functions Assists skilled maintenance personnel with repairs, installations, preventive maintenance, and construction projects. Transports materials, tools, and equipment to job sites. Performs site preparation and cleanup before and after maintenance projects. Assists with moving furniture, equipment, and supplies throughout campus. Replaces air filters, light bulbs, and other routine maintenance items. Assists with seasonal grounds maintenance projects. Supports snow removal, storm cleanup, and special event setup and teardown. Maintains cleanliness and appearance of maintenance work areas and storage locations. Closes fountains on a scheduled weekly basis. Maintains regular attendance and adheres to the assigned schedule; this position is not remote or telecommute. Adheres to all company and departmental policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Uses an electronic time management system to record time, attendance, and paid‑off requests. Non‑Essential Job Functions Follows a preventative maintenance schedule as assigned by Manager. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Licenses: Valid Driver’s license. Experience: Minimum of 6 months of general labor experience required. Prefer one year of maintenance, construction, landscaping, custodial, warehouse, or general labor experience. Experience operating basic power equipment is preferred. Experience working in a customer service environment is preferred. Experience with pool cleaning or maintenance is preferred. Computer Skills: Basic end‑user keyboard skills; capable of data entry in the electronic time management system. Competency: Able to acquire and apply knowledge, skills, and experience to accomplish results; demonstrates commitment and responsibility. Able to safely use hand tools and power tools. Able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Physical and Mental Requirements Includes manual handling up to 50 pounds, use of hand tools, climbing stairs and ladders, operating equipment (forklift, loader, trencher, air compressor, jackhammer, etc.), working in varied temperatures and conditions, wearing personal protective equipment, and performing tasks up to 61‑100% of the time as required. Work Environment Outside/inside campus setting: student buildings, hotel and motel rooms, cafeteria, office buildings, classrooms, data center, and outdoor trenching and digging for direct burial power cables. #J-18808-Ljbffr
