Scope of position: Our Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning and servicing nursing home areas; moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as necessary. Performs a variety of housekeeping duties, to maintain the facility in an orderly and sanitary condition.

Examples of duties include:

• Following all health and safety regulations, rules and procedures.
• Sweeping, mopping, wet-washing, and vacuuming floors; periodically polishing floors, using buffing machine and polish, using safety glasses and caution signs; cleaning hallways with floor scrubber; washing walls and inside windows, by hand, using cleaning solutions, sponge, and cloths; periodically washing outside windows and screens.
• Moving furniture to clean rooms and areas; gathering and disposing of trash; washing wastebaskets and large refuse containers and relining with paper or plastic bags; cleaning lighting fixtures, tops of windows, vents, door frames, and other high places, using ladder when necessary; turning and changing mattresses, getting traction and bed frames, hanging draperies and shades; may do minor repairs to Venetian blinds and shades.
• Cleaning window tracks of flies, cleaning elevator tracks, cleaning mini-blinds, cleaning residents' fans as well as others.
• Washing sinks and other plumbing fixtures; washing water coolers; replacing disposables such as towels, soap and toilet paper, etc.; cleaning whirlpool, tub and chair lift; cleaning mirrors.
• Collecting soiled linens and transporting to laundry; on weekends and holidays helping ground floor housekeeping aide.
• Disinfecting areas by scrubbing or spraying; testing water for disinfectant reading; unplugging clogged toilets; cleaning entire room when a resident expires; assisting in cleaning all ceiling vents.
• Moving resident's room furnishings on wheels, from one floor to another.
• Completing charts daily, indicating number of wheelchairs, Geri chairs and beds cleaned or changed. Completing monthly reports and submitting to Supervisor.

Typical qualifications include no prior experience or training.

Shift differentials are available:

• $2.00/hour - 2nd shift
• $2.00/hour - 3rd shift
• 20% of base rate of pay Weekend premium – all shifts
