Patient Access Associate

Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for hospital services Assign accurate MRNs Complete medical necessity and compliance checks Provide patient instructions and collect insurance information Receive and process physician orders Operate the telephone switchboard Meet point-of-service collection goals Use quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts Conduct account audits and provide statistical data to Patient Access leadership Pre-register patient accounts and obtain demographic, insurance, and financial-liability information Collect point-of-service collections and past-due balances, including payment-plan options Explain consent and patient education forms, obtain signatures, and witness signatures Review insurance eligibility and enter benefit data to support collections and clean claims Screen medical necessity using ABN software and distribute required forms Requirements 1+ years of customer service experience Openness to innovation, including AI High School Diploma/GED required CRCR required within 6 months of hire (company paid) Must reside and be authorized to work within the United States Must be able to work on-site at Mercy - Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY Availability for full-time 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m. shifts Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in patient admission processes, including medical necessity checks, insurance verification, and point-of-service collections.
