Registered Nurse, Supplemental Float Pool

Position Title: Registered Nurse, Supplemental Float Pool Purpose & Scope: Across all levels, the registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of their assigned patients. The RN is also responsible for supervising assigned personnel. The position requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to nursing care. It involves interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, along with management and supervisory skills. The ability to communicate effectively in written, auditory, or visual formats is essential, with spoken word being the primary method of communication. Written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are also required. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing/patient care experience in an acute care setting is required. Certification/Licensure: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or hold a Compact State Nursing Licensure. BLS certification is required. Designated units require maintaining specific certifications. New nurses or those new to the practice area have one year to complete these specialty requirements: ACLS: ED, ICU, CVICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiopulmonary Rehab, Bronch Suite, Interventional Radiology, Radiology Safety Nurses, Step-down Units (3A, 3B, 4B), 6A, 6B, 7A, Labor and Delivery, Hemodialysis, Respiratory Therapy, Float Pool, GI Unit, PACU. PALS: PACU (Pediatric Nurses), ED. NRP: NICU, Mother Baby, Labor and Delivery. De-escalation training: BHU, ED. Per policy, ACLS or PALS certification demonstrates competence in BLS skills per American Heart Association Guidelines. If an employee holds current ACLS or PALS certification, this fulfills the BLS requirement for their role; a separate BLS certification is not necessary. #J-18808-Ljbffr
