Desktop Support Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support for end users by troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic networking issues. This role is responsible for resolving technical incidents, supporting workstation deployments, maintaining computer systems, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and remote support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral hardware issues.

• Troubleshoot and resolve operating system, software, and application-related problems.

• Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, printers, monitors, and other IT equipment.

• Respond to and manage support requests through a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.

• Perform hardware replacements, upgrades, and break/fix support as needed.

• Assist with user account management, password resets, and access-related requests.

• Set up and deploy new workstations and equipment for employees.

• Maintain accurate inventory records of IT assets and equipment.

• Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate support teams when necessary.

• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate technical information clearly to end users.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of IT support or desktop support experience.

• Strong experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in a corporate environment.

• Experience supporting desktop and laptop devices from major manufacturers such as Dell, HP, or similar.

• Experience working with a ticketing system for incident tracking and resolution.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Windows-based environments.

• Familiarity with common IT support tools and remote support technologies.

• Experience with ServiceNow or other enterprise ticketing platforms.

• Knowledge of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Elkridge, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
