Transfer Specialist

The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased. This position collaborates with other team members to ensure processes and procedures remain in compliance. The role includes safely driving company‑owned vehicles, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and presenting a professional appearance when in contact with families. Job Responsibilities Safely drive company‑owned professional vehicles to perform “first call” transfers of the deceased in accordance with local and state/provincial laws and company policies. Follow chain‑of‑custody processes, complete required paperwork, and accurately identify the deceased. Cooperate with first responders, Coroner, hospital staff, or Senior Living facility, and accommodate their processes. For home transfers, courteously and professionally interact with bereaved family members; exhibit sensitivity to the environment and minimize conversation. Follow company procedures for transferring soiled garments, bedding, or other materials; leave a warm and courteous first impression. Enter deceased event information into proprietary software according to company procedures. Transport caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes; assist with moving caskets. Maintain vehicle cleanliness: wash, vacuum, and clean vehicles; ensure vehicles are presentable. Fuel vehicles as necessary and follow safety guidelines and expenditure processes. Maintain personal protective and transfer supplies in vehicles, including cleaning products. Identify vehicle engine or operating issues to management and drive vehicles for repair or inspection. Requirements Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Licenses: Current state/province issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Experience: At least one year as a courier or driver with direct customer interaction strongly preferred. Knowledge of local and state laws related to transportation of the deceased. Basic computer skills required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to work a schedule that supports business needs, including weekends, nights, and holidays in a rotation. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally and push/pull up to 200 pounds. Ability to operate vehicles in hazardous, heavy‑traffic, and adverse weather conditions. Work Conditions Work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions. Local and/or multiple location traveling required; up to 100% using company vehicle. Frequent, continuous periods of standing up to 6 hours per day; climbing stairs to access buildings. Manual dexterity for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usage.
