Through advocacy, community partnerships, and exceptional support, we promote growth, inclusion, and innovation for people of all abilities.The Direct Support Professional provides the assistance necessary to meet the supported individual's needs and promote their health, safety, and overall well-being. This support may include helping the individual accomplish activities of daily living including but not limited to eating, toileting, dressing, bathing, transferring, and ambulation, while encouraging as much independence as possible.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma requiredAt least 18 years of ageFirst Aid/CPR certificationCompletion of TB screening and testingCompletion of Physical including transportation/transfer addendumSafe driving record, current driver's license, personal vehicle, and current motor vehicle liability insurance required, ability to successfully pass criminal background checksJob Responsibilities:Communicates effectively with the individual to whom they provide services including his or her familyProvides assistance with activities of daily living including personal care and nutrition supports and in increasing and/or maintaining their everyday independence within their homes and communities by assisting with light household duties including cooking, laundry and shoppingProvides transportation as needed or transport individuals in agency vehicleResponsible for completion of necessary documentation including time sheet, daily progress notes, incident reports, data tracking, etc., in a timely manner.Provides reliable and appropriate service to individuals and their familiesParticipates in routine established for the housePresents professionally and follows established dress codeParticipate in cross training of houses, as assignments may change due to programmatic needRepresent The Arc of Bristol County/proAbility's mission, philosophies and Code of Ethics in a positive and supportive manner within the community and with the individuals and families we support.Maintain a positive relationship with the individuals, their families/guardians, as well as other businesses and social service agencies.If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities, we invite you to apply today and join our dedicated team at The Arc of Bristol County!
