American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter Date of Availability: August 2026, Open Until Filled Contract Length: 178 days Salary Range: $28.89 - $31.94, per hour. Dependent upon education and experience Responsibilities:
- Adapt instructional materials, equipment, or strategies, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Special Education and Executive Director to provide differentiate instruction, accomplish objectives and meet student needs.
- Assist classroom teacher in providing instruction and managing student educational programming.
- Work cooperatively with local district educational teams to develop and implement student's educational programs.
- Comply with Board policies and administrative practices, including procedures outlined in the Mid-State Education District handbook.
- Must hold a current interpreter and transliterator certificates awarded by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or the general level interpreter proficiency certificate awarded by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language.
- Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing and visually impaired with additional needs in the education setting, preferred, with general knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in the teaching of students.
- Ability to serve in a role to support both the sign language and spoken language development of learners with a hearing loss.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team with staff, parents, and the community through the building and maintaining of collaborative, positive relationships and through the ability to follow program direction as provided by teachers and administration.
- Skills in communicating with parents and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability and desire to work with assistive technology.
- Valid driver's license and ability to provide travel for self between locations.
