An auto repair service writer (or service advisor) is the primary liaison between customers and the mechanical team. They are the face of the shop, responsible for greeting clients, documenting vehicle issues, developing repair estimates, and coordinating with technicians to ensure seamless repairs.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Automotive Knowledge: Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, parts, and maintenance schedules.
- Communication & Sales: Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills. Ability to confidently upsell preventive maintenance and recommended services.
- Organization & Multitasking: Capable of handling a fast-paced environment while balancing customer demands and technician workloads.
- Computer & Data Entry: Proficiency in shop management software, inventory systems, and customer databases.
