Equipment Operator Goldwater Area

Overview Responsible for daily activities regarding equipment operation and safety as well as operator and surroundings safety. Must lift a proximity weight of 100 pounds. Must read labels of chemical use. Must pass licensing required to operate equipment. WSDA private applicator license encouraged but not required. Responsibilities Lift a proximity weight up to 100 pounds. Operate equipment such as forklifts, tractors, ATVs, and other machinery. Complete a daily equipment checklist before operation (e.g., tire condition, oil levels). Hold forklift certification. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately. Perform basic calculations for mixing chemical solutions with water. Ensure equipment operation safety and its surroundings. Demonstrate self‑responsibility with minimal supervision (e.g., no sleeping or eating while operating equipment). Pass a comprehensive 36‑point pesticide handler certification. Work under extreme heat and cold conditions while operating equipment. Work day and night shifts depending on season, including weekends and long hours. Qualifications Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language Skills Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees. Mathematical Skills Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations WSDA Pesticide Private Applicators License. Forklift Certificate. Train the Trainer. Paraquat (Gramaxone) handlers certificate. CPR/First aid. Driver’s License. Other qualifications Bilingual and biliterate but not required. Know how to operate AgWorld—required. Understand and complete chemical recommendations—not required. Be honest and trustworthy. Be respectful. Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity. Be flexible. Demonstrate strong work ethic and ability to deal with public in a positive and courteous manner.
