Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Martinsburg, West Virginia.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 09/28/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, days\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Days, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 28, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 3\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.Details\n \n 20-bed ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro) with average daily census of 16-17 patients\n Patient ratios of 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 in Stepdown care\n Unit supports Stepdown needs for the facility though not a traditional Stepdown\n 12-hour day shifts, 7a-730p\n Every-other-weekend requirement (Sat/Sun for days)\n Rotating holiday coverage required\n Uses EPIC EMR system\n Phillips Cardiac Monitors with central monitoring station, data flows directly into EPIC\n ICU Medical IV Pumps used for typical drips including moderate conscious sedation\n Ventilators (Servo & Hamilton) managed by Respiratory Therapy 24/7\n CRRT (NxStage) used, typically prioritized for core staff\n Patient population includes post cath lab, balloon pumps, ventrics, and cardiac cases with CCU-level acuity\n No open heart or bolt procedures on this unit\n Travelers typically do not float outside the ICU unless working a float pool assignment\n Dedicated Charge Nurse available 24/7, responds to rapid responses and codes\n In-house Pulmonary Critical Care Intensivist during the day and hospitalist at night\n Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy in-house 24/7\n No dedicated IV team\n Requirements\n \n Active WV or compact RN license required\n Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required\n Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS\n PALS and TNCC certifications preferred\n BSN not required for this position\n EPIC EMR experience preferred\n Must pass EKG competency testing\n 7 years of work history required (or since graduation, whichever is less) with no employment gaps greater than 30 days\n 2 professional references required, including 1 supervisor and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference\n Recent skills checklist required within the past year\n Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity ICU setting supporting MICU, SICU, and Neuro patient populations\n Unit orientation includes general hospital orientation followed by 1-2 shifts with a preceptor\n Scrub color requirement: navy blue with navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt\n Natural hair color required and no pink or blue; visible tattoos deemed distasteful must be covered\n Full COVID vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption forms available if needed\n Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the travel position\n Previous perm employees must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler\n Previous travelers who worked a full year at any WVU facility must take a 2-year break before returning\n Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility position at a time\n All candidates interview directly with the unit manager\n First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience level\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-756580.
