SENIOR LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Senior Licensed Practical NurseThe Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking motivated, dynamic individuals for the position of Senior Licensed Practical Nurse at the Baldomero Lopez State Veterans' Nursing Home in Land O' Lakes, Pasco County. The annual salary is $50,960.78, paid bi-weekly at $1,960.03. The facility offers a $1.00 per hour shift differential for 2:45 pm – 11:15 pm & 10:45 pm – 7:15 am shifts, and Weekend Warrior positions are available at the rate of $24.72/hour. The nursing home provides an excellent retirement package, optional deferred compensation plan, health, vision, dental, disability, and other supplemental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave, nine paid holidays and a personal day, and a tuition waiver for State Universities and Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester). The facility is also a designated employment site for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.Minimum qualifications include willingness and ability to work weekends and holidays, a valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse or graduate practical nurse letter from the Florida Board of Nursing, valid CPR certification, fluency in the English language, excellent customer service skills, and knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office. Successful completion of a current Level II Criminal Background Screening is also required.Preferred qualifications include one year of experience working with a geriatric population in a skilled long-term care facility and experience passing medications in a skilled nursing facility.Position description involves giving ordered treatments, administering prescribed medications, providing direct ADL care, completing diagnostic procedures, receiving verbal orders, making rounds with physicians, monitoring physician's orders, reviewing and following up on resident incidents, counting narcotics, supervising subordinates, recording observations, assisting physicians with special tests, giving report at the beginning and end of shift, completing MDS, RAP modules, and additional assessments, reviewing and updating care plans, attending interdisciplinary care plans, ensuring economical utilization of supplies, maintaining equipment in a clean and safe manner, maintaining valid CPR certification, and performing all other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
