Job Description

Malone Healthcare is seeking an elite, highly experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a premium 13-week travel assignment at a premier Level 1 Trauma Center in Des Moines, IA.

This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment averaging 35–50 cases per day across 16 surgical suites. The ideal candidate is an efficient, adaptable professional who thrives in high-acuity scenarios and is dedicated to maintaining safe patient care with sub-20-minute room turnovers.

Start Date: 07/13/2026 or 07/20/2026 (Priority given to sooner starts)

Position Highlights & Ratios

• Shifts: 12-Hour Days available (36 or 40 hours/week options)
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 dedicated surgical care.
• On-Call: $9/hr Standby. Callback is paid at a 1.5x multiplier with a generous 2-hour minimum guaranteed. Weekend call windows run from Friday end-of-shift to Monday 0630.
• Scrubs: Fully provided by the facility.
• Floating: Required to float across regional campuses (Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Methodist West).

Key Clinical Expectations

• Must be fully competent to circulate (scrub experience highly preferred).
• Required Case Proficiencies: General, DaVinci Robotics (3 active robots), Pediatrics, and Level 1/2 Trauma.
• Preferred Specialty Exposure: Neurology (Stealth technology navigation), Ortho Trauma (Stryker/Synthes), Transplants, Vascular, Gynecology, and Urology.
• EMR: Active, independent proficiency in EPIC within the last 3 years is required.

Strict Facility Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

• Experience: Minimum of 24 months of recent, dedicated hospital Operating Room experience.
• Travel History: No first-time travelers. Must have successfully completed at least one travel assignment within the last 15 months.
• Licensure: Active Iowa state license or multi-state Compact license required in hand at the time of submission.
• Certifications: Active American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS.
• Radius Rule: True travelers located outside of 50 miles prioritized.
• Employment Conflict: Past UnityPoint Health staff (FTE) or PRN float pool employees are ineligible to return as travelers within 12 months of separation.
• Holiday Rule: Required to work 1–2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Independence Day / Labor Day) unless the unit is fully closed.
