Job Title: Registered Nurse - L&D Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days + Call Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Required Certifications: BLS certification required; ACLS, NRP, and STABLE preferred Must-Have: Ability to read and interpret fetal strips, critical thinking skills, previous travel experience, and must be able to float to Medsurg and ER as needed Description: Department: Labor and Delivery Certifications required: BLS (preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE) Total number of Labor and Delivery beds: 15 (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum) Number of OR suites on the unit for C-Sections: 1 Average number of births per month: 58 Ratio guidelines: 1:1 for titrated medications and 1:3 for couplet care Common patient diagnoses: Mix of obstetric/neonates, hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus; deliveries usually at 36 weeks and above RNs required to titrate drips: Yes Common titratable drips: Pitocin, insulin, magnesium Charge nurse on each shift: Yes, the charge nurse takes an assignment Support staff: Yes, including CNAs for vitals, paperwork, and patient transfers OB/Neonatologist availability: Not in-house 24/7 Anesthesia availability: Not in-house 24/7 RT Equipment available: Yes RNs required to read their own strips: Yes Brand of tele monitors: Philips EFM System: Traceview/PIP EMR System: Meditech Shifts and scheduling: Shifts are 0645-1915 and 1845-0715, with no self-scheduling allowed, only block scheduling Weekend requirements: Every other weekend Holiday requirements: Every other holiday Call requirement: Depends on staffing Floating requirements: Yes, may float to various departments as needed Dress code: Scrubs provided in maroon color; RN will change into surgical scrubs once on the unit Attributes for success: Adaptability to change, strong critical thinking, effective communication skills Radius Rule: Must live within a 50-mile radius of the facility Additional time-off requests must be provided upfront; no additional requests will be approved after submission Cancellation policy: The facility can cancel up to 4 shifts during the assignment Charting system: Meditech BSN required: False Trauma level: CAH Care setting: Acute Division: Nursing Shift notes: Days + Call; every third weekend and every other holiday; may float within skillset Required certifications: BLS Certification, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
