General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the restaurant. This role oversees all FOH operations, under close partnership with the Chef/Owner to ensure optimal guest experience, and meeting operational goals.

The ideal candidate thrives at the challenge of managing the daily operations of a small independently owned restaurant. They will be hospitality-driven, understand the importance of teamwork and maintaining standards, and has the emotional intelligence for developing people.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop FOH team members
• Manage operations and finances of the business
• Recruit and train new hires on standards and high-performance culture
• Drive development of employees and conduct performance evaluations for ongoing growth
• Ensure quality & standards of service is maintained

Operations

• Work directly with ownership to develop and execute strategies that achieve operational and financial goals
• Demonstrate strong leadership by aligning FOH and BOH teams around shared goals and a commitment to continuous improvement
• Develop, implement, monitor, and refine clear strategic initiatives
• Lead engaging, motivating, and educational pre-shift meetings, and oversee all FOH operations during service
• Ensure consistent execution of food, beverage, service, and hospitality standards aligned with company values
• Develop and manage employee schedules to align with business needs and labor budgets
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop high-performing hourly team members
• Hold team members accountable through performance management, coaching, and counseling when necessary
• Effectively handle challenging guest situations with patience, empathy, and tact, and resolve team conflicts professionally
• Apply creative solutions to operational challenges where standard procedures may not exist
• Foster collaboration, balancing individual and team responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations
• Maintain restaurant appearance, organization, and operational readiness

Financial Performance

• Proactively manage prime costs with attention to daily, weekly, monthly, and annual budgets and projections
• Manage labor costs, operating expenses, and FOH budgets
• Monitor daily sales, guest counts, and key performance indicators
• Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning
• Identify opportunities to increase revenue while maintaining an exceptional guest experience
• Control inventory for beverage, supplies, and FOH operating materials

Business Development

• Support local marketing initiatives and community partnerships
• Collaborate on promotions, events, and seasonal programming
• Analyze guest feedback and implement continuous improvements
• Contribute ideas that enhance profitability and operational efficiency

  Qualifications

• Minimum 3-4 years of General Manager experience in a medium to high-volume, chef-driven restaurant
• Experience opening restaurants or leading operational improvements
• Management and hospitality experience with strong administrative skills
• Proven leadership and team development experience
• Strong understanding of restaurant financials, budgeting, labor management, and inventory controls
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
• Collaborative mindset with a gift for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences
• Experience with Toast POS, Resy reservations, scheduling, and inventory management systems
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Knowledge of Spanish cuisine and wines, a plus
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, alcohol service, and labor regulations/certifications

Compensation Details

Salary: $80-90K DOE
