Phlebotomist 5336 Location: Syracuse, NY Schedule: Monday Friday 7:45AM 4:45PM, rotating Saturdays 7:00AM 12:00PM Projected duration: 3 month contract + potential for perm Job code: CVDJP00035336 Benefits are available The primary role of a phlebotomist is to aid in completing diverse assigned tasks, resolving issues, training, and recommending workflow enhancements. Responsibilities: Proficient in blood collection, specimen labeling, centrifuging, maintenance record keeping, decontamination practices, patient data updating, etc. Ensures proper collection and storage of specimens following established protocols. Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures. Demonstrates use of various needle techniques. Accurately matches requisition forms with specimen tubes, labels specimens, centrifuges as necessary, and packages for transport. Adheres to OSHA and DEP regulations, attends department trainings, and responds to inquiries. Minimum requirements: Valid phlebotomy certification for state of employment as needed. At least 6 months experience in venipuncture in a fast-paced lab or hospital environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of 2 years experience.
