Certified Medical Assistant

Certified Medical Assistant Location: Barnabas Health Medical Group, Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Union County Cities, NJ 08873. Employment type: Full-time. Shift: Day. Pay rate: $23.06–$29.35 per hour. The Float Pool is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs, recording medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures as directed. The CMA also serves as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or GED At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: Phlebotomy and EKG experience Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems Certifications and Licenses Required BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHA Scheduling Requirements Alternating shifts Monday – Friday Full-time Required travel to Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Union County Cities Essential Functions Perform clinical tasks such as EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, and medication administration, treatments, and minor surgeries as needed. Support practice needs with clerical tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co‑pays, preparing lab requests, and other clerical tasks as assigned. Communicate with insurance providers and handle pre‑authorizations and certifications as necessary. Prepare rooms, arrange instruments and equipment, and ensure a neat and sanitary environment. Room patients, verify patient information, confirm purpose of visit, obtain and record vitals, and update medical history. Communicate with patients and other providers per the instruction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner. Create and maintain health record information, file and organize as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
