Rewind Machine Operator 3rd shift

Overview As a Rewind Operator you will be responsible for operating a rewind machine to take large rolls from a press and break them down into smaller rolls following the customer’s specifications. You will follow specifications on the job ticket to complete the rolls to the right length, copy position, and core size. You will also be responsible for verifying the quality of supplied rolls and reviewing the product for defects to ensure the highest quality product for our customers. You may also box product or perform other finishing duties to ensure product is provided to shipping in an accurate and timely manner. Key Responsibilities Review job work instructions/tickets and set up the rewind machine properly for the job, including blades, cores, and copy position. Operate the rewind machine to break the large press rolls into finished customer rolls. Review labels and rolls for quality and consistency. Perform splices by taping together two rolls of the same product, verifying product ID numbers and conducting visual inspections with supervisor sign‑off. Verify Core IDs for finished rolls and place them inside and outside the roll, after supervisor confirmation. Place finished rolls in the proper box, verifying the core and box IDs match, and store the box in the designated area for shipping or stock. Communicate with Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and/or Scheduler regarding issues with labels, including over‑or under‑runs, label quality, or ID number questions. Maintain the work area and rewind machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations. Perform additional duties as required. Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. At least one year of previous machine operation experience. Printing‑related production experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Good communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Motivation to accomplish tasks and perform routine tasks at a high level. Proactive identification of problems or inconsistencies and reporting to management. Strong organization skills to manage multiple different labels each day. Physical Demands Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, and repetitive tasks. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs with assistance. Pass a pre‑employment drug test and be subject to random drug screening. Work Environment Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment. Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures. Personal Protective Equipment Safety glasses are recommended in the production area. Safety toe shoes are required in the production area.
