Stew Leonard's, a family-owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Stew's earned its nickname, the "Disneyland of Dairy Stores" because of its country-fair atmosphere, with costumed characters and animated entertainment throughout the store that keep children entertained while parents shop.

Location: Yonkers, NY

Full Time Hourly – Estimated Pay Range: $19.90/hr. – $21.00/hr. depending on qualifications and experience

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Position Description

The Store Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the entire store. This role works across departments to maintain strong customer service, store standards, food safety, cleanliness, and efficient operations while helping ensure the right team members are in the right areas based on business needs.

Our Store Managers lead from the floor and are expected to be flexible and ready to jump in wherever support is needed. This includes cross-training in multiple areas of the business and assisting with responsibilities such as registers, kitchen and food-service operations, merchandising, customer service, and other store functions.

The Store Manager partners closely with department leaders, shifts labor and resources based on business needs, resolves customer concerns, and helps maintain a safe, clean, efficient, and welcoming store environment. This position also directly oversees the Building Services team.

Your Day-to-Day

• Provide visible, hands-on leadership throughout the store and support departments based on daily business needs.
• Cross-train in key areas of the store and be willing to step into different roles when additional support is needed, including registers, kitchens, customer-facing departments, and other operational areas.
• Monitor service levels throughout the store and help shift labor and resources when needed.
• Assist customers with questions, concerns, and complaints, working to resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• Ensure proper signage, full displays, product rotation, and overall store presentation.
• Support adherence to internal and external sanitation and food safety standards through inspections, follow-up, and partnership with the Chief Food Safety Officer.
• Supervise the Building Services team, including daily assignments, scheduling, performance management, and development.
• Maintain professional relationships with in-house, local, and state health and sanitation inspectors.
• Provide storewide support during physical inventories.
• Facilitate daily 4 o'clock huddles.
• Partner with department leaders and team members to maintain a safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation.
• Lead by example and be willing to jump in wherever the store needs an extra set of hands.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of relevant retail, customer service, or leadership experience.
• Qualified Food Operator (QFO) certification preferred/required as applicable.
• Knowledge of local and state health and sanitation codes.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to work with internal systems, including labor scheduling.
• Comfortable learning different areas of the business and working outside of one primary department.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and closing shifts.
