LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Primary Care

Overview Location: Geisinger Primary Care Pittston. Shift: Days. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Exemption Status: Non-exempt. This is a full-time LPN role with a schedule typically 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Responsibilities Provide primary clinical support to the provider, patient and family to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient's condition. Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and proper filing in the medical record to ensure continuity and quality of care. Promote a clean and safe clinical environment; prepare patients for examinations; obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and basic medical data for the provider. Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider; assist in minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations as directed by the provider to facilitate accurate diagnosis. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency. Manage ongoing patient communication as directed by the provider; prioritize communications to the provider and respond to patient questions to ensure efficient use of provider time and timely patient needs. Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under the direction of a provider and within scope of practice. Prepare and maintain examination and treatment rooms between cases; ensure asepsis, appropriate instruments and equipment available for procedures. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment and requires adherence to organization policies and procedures. Qualifications Education: Graduate from Specialty Training Program-Nursing (Required). Experience: Minimum of 1 year nursing experience (Preferred). Certification(s) and License(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license. Skills: Communication, Computer Literacy, Customer Service, Multitasking, Teamwork.
