Lead MRI Technologist (Full-Time)

The Lead MRI Technologist is responsible for day-to-day technical operation of the MRI Department and for performing diagnostic radiographic examinations. This position requires moderate independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative as well as providing guidance and training to technologists in order to maximize their development and growth. Responsibilities A day in the life of a Lead MRI Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: Maintains adequate inventory of materials and various supplies and recommends procurement of necessary supplies. Provides instruction to technologists and auxiliary personnel through formal and informal education. Allocates work assignments and participates in staff training. Assumes responsibility for proper and efficient operation and maintenance of all equipment and accessories. Prepares schedules, and manages time keeping and 'on-call' coverage. Maintains standards of safety throughout the department. Reviews patient's chart and/or physician order to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology. Selects Proper Imaging Coil for study. Performs imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols. Works with physicians to optimize MRI sequences to produce the highest quality MRI image. Administers contrast media following MRI dept protocols. Verifies pregnancy status, when appropriate. Obtains MRI consent documentation when appropriate. Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure. Documents diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record. Performs post-processing techniques to optimize imaging or study. Draws up sterile contrast media and other solutions following hospital approved infection control guidelines. Administers emergency care including performing CPR. Performs MRI safety, screens patients for contraindication (i.e. foreign bodies, medical indications). Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends. Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care. On call assignments as needed per individual Hospital & Departmental policy. Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of EMR, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital. Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards. Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality. Responsible at all times for maintaining MRI Safety Zones. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communication with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. Performs specific daily and monthly QA. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Certificate of Completion/Degree from an accredited Radiography or MRI programs. Minimum of 3 years experience in modality. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Licenses and Certifications Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT, MR) or ARMRIT AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position Contacts: Regular contact with medical personnel, patients, and its visitors.
