What you will be doing Under general supervision, you will operate all heavy equipment associated with the construction and maintenance of Anchorage International Airport. Equipment includes motor graders, loaders, dump trucks, airport snow removal machines, roller compactors, sand spreaders, backhoes, and tractor‑trailer combinations. You will operate equipment on the airfield and airport property, ensuring safe and efficient operation during dynamic conditions such as snow and ice events. Daily duties include removing snow from airfield surfaces, parking lots, roadways, and sidewalks; cleaning equipment; performing emergency concrete and asphalt repair; removing brush and trees; and a variety of other labor‑intensive tasks. As part of the Airfield Maintenance crew, you will help keep the airport operational in all weather conditions, maintain roads for the traveling public, repair asphalt, conduct security inspections, maintain lighting systems, clear vegetation from rights‑of‑way and safety areas, and train for emergencies. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) ClassA is required at time of hire. Candidates must hold a binder CDL with tanker endorsement if applicable. A conditional hire approval may be granted with a requirement to obtain an N‑Tanker endorsement within 120 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect. Applicants must be eligible for an airport identification badge per TSA regulations (49CFR1542) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. Successful applicants must pass a comprehensive background investigation and TSA Security Threat Assessment.
