With multiple gigawatts currently under construction, we are enabling grid-safe data centers.

About The Role

ON.energy is building and operating hyperscale power systems at gigawatt scale. Finance is centralizing all spare-part and equipment inventory into a single pool held in Mission Critical LLC, serving four demand channels: project delivery and commissioning, the first-year warranty period, long-term service agreements, and direct spare-part sales. Inventory is relieved only against an approved work order and charged to the corresponding WBS, business unit and account.

This is a new position, created to be the administrative and accounting owner of that inventory across its full lifecycle: Purchase → Receipt → Custody → Transfer → Work order → Relief → Reconciliation → Reserve or disposal. Will own inventory accounting and control end to end — help build the policy and processes, define and create the consolidated item master, participate in the system configuration, organize the documentation for every location, and guarantee that each location reconciles monthly and is recorded correctly in the books.

The role reports to the US Accounting Director, with a dotted line to the inventory policy owner in Finance for the duration of the build and a standing seat in the Inventory Governance Committee. It sits inside Accounting rather than Operations or Supply Chain, so that it can refuse an adjustment. It works daily with Commissioning, Field Services, Procurement & Supply Chain, Project Delivery and IT. The first year is a build; the steady state is control.

Key Responsibilities

Policy and process

• Co-lead the drafting of the corporate inventory policy: taxonomy, ownership model, lifecycle and statuses, approval matrix, valuation and reserve methodology, control framework.
• Write the standard operating procedures behind each policy rule — receiving, put-away, work-order issue, transfer, return, cycle count, adjustment, write-down and disposal.
• Maintain the policy and procedures as living documents with version control and a documented change process.

Item master

• Define and create the consolidated inventory item list, merging the Field Services and Commissioning requirements into one master.
• Set and enforce the naming and numbering convention, item categories, units of measure and required attributes.
• Act as gatekeeper for item creation and modification — no new item enters the system without review.

System configuration

• Participate in the NetSuite inventory configuration alongside Finance and IT: locations, bins, item records, transaction types, statuses, approval workflows and posting rules.
• Translate each policy rule into a system control, and test that the control holds before go-live.
• Own the inventory reporting pack: value by location and project, in transit, unallocated, aging, movement and adjustment history.

Location documentation and custody

• Organize and maintain the documentation file for every location: what it holds, who is accountable, access and custody rules, count history and supporting evidence.
• Keep receiving, transfer and issue documentation complete and traceable from purchase order to physical location to general ledger entry.
• Schedule and oversee cycle counts and annual physical counts; investigate and document every variance.

Monthly close and reconciliation

• Reconcile the inventory subledger to the general ledger monthly, by location, with every difference identified, explained and cleared.
• Verify that each work order posted to the correct WBS, account and business unit across the four demand channels, and that revenue-bearing channels are recognized as designed.
• Prepare inventory journal entries, accruals, landed-cost allocations, reserves and write-downs with supporting documentation.
• Deliver the monthly inventory reporting package to the US Accounting Director and the Inventory Governance Committee.

Controls and cross-functional partnership

• Operate the inventory control framework: segregation of duties, approval thresholds, exception handling and audit trail.
• Serve as the accounting counterpart to Commissioning, Field Services, Procurement & Supply Chain and Project Delivery on anything inventory-related.
• Support external audit and internal reviews with prepared, self-explanatory workpapers.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 6–10 years in accounting, with at least 3 in inventory or cost accounting.
• Hands-on US GAAP experience with inventory: costing, capitalization, landed cost, reserves and write-downs.
• ERP inventory module experience end to end — NetSuite strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ownership of a monthly subledger-to-GL reconciliation.
• Experience writing policy or SOPs that other functions had to follow.
• Advanced Excel; comfortable with large transaction data sets.

Preferred

• CPA, CMA or equivalent.
• Energy, construction, EPC, manufacturing or heavy-equipment background.
• Project accounting with WBS structures and percentage-of-completion recognition.
• Multi-entity and multi-business-unit environments; ERP implementation or process build experience.
