Gym & Café Staff (Full-Time)

Locations: Salt Lake City & South Main Gyms Pay: Gym duties: $17–$19/hour | Café duties: $19–$21/hour (rate depends on which duties you're covering)

The Front is hiring Gym & Café Staff to help run the show at our Salt Lake City and South Main locations.

The Front Climbing Club builds more than gyms - we build community. Our spaces are designed to spark connection, fuel the climbing obsession, and give people a "third place" to belong outside of home and work. That community shows up on the climbing floor and at the café counter alike, and this role sits right at the center of both.

This is a hybrid position that blends our Gym Staff and Café Staff roles into one. Some shifts you'll be checking in members, running the front desk, and keeping an eye on the climbing floor. Other shifts you'll be behind the counter, making drinks, prepping food, and keeping the café humming. Either way, you're the friendly face making sure every guest feels taken care of. This full-time role is based at our Salt Lake City & South Main gyms, with pay depending on which duties you're covering: $17–$19/hour for gym-side work and $19–$21/hour for café-side work.

On the gym floor:

• Welcome climbers, check them in, and walk them through waivers and facility highlights
• Sign up new members and keep membership info accurate
• Answer questions about climbing, memberships, events, and gear, and ring up sales
• Keep the gym clean - sweeping, mopping, laundry, and daily deep-cleans
• Monitor the climbing areas for cert tags, safe technique, and unsafe behavior
• Run belay tests and autobelay orientations

In the café:

• Greet guests, walk them through the menu, and help them find something they'll love
• Prepare and serve food, coffee, espresso drinks, and alcoholic beverages to recipe and service standards
• Prep ingredients - cutting, slicing, assembling, and cooking to quality and safety guidelines
• Check food for quality, temperature, and presentation before it goes out
• Bus tables, clean equipment, and keep front- and back-of-house running smoothly
• Stock supplies, flag inventory needs, and help control food costs by minimizing waste

You might be a great fit if:

• You've got 5+ years of experience (work, school, or trade training all count), including at least 2 years of serving and/or cooking experience
• You're 21+ and can hold (or already hold) a Utah Alcohol Server Permit - required for this role
• You're willing to get a food handler's permit , First Aid/CPR certification , and any additional alcohol certification upon hire
• Barista experience or espresso know-how is a big plus
• You're friendly, approachable, and genuinely enjoy people
• You can juggle a dozen things at once, whether that's a line of guests or a rush of drink orders
• Your schedule flexes around nights, weekends, and whatever the week throws at you
• You stay calm, focused, and professional even when things get hectic
• You're comfortable on your feet for a full shift and can lift up to 50 lbs
• You're passionate about climbing and just as passionate about a well-made cortado
