Responsibilities
- Facilitates physician performance during invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic cardiovascular procedures; maintains sterile field and passes instruments to the surgeon as needed.
- Anticipates surgeon’s needs for additional supplies and maintains appropriate counts with the circulator prior to incision and before closure.
- Prepares sterile table, instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions; assists with patient draping and positioning; supports room turnover.
- Verifies the procedure to be performed with consent forms and escorts the patient to the operating room, ensuring correct patient and procedure.
- Preps and cleans instruments for terminal sterilization; assists with cleaning of the room and preparation for the next patient.

Requirements
- Current nursing license valid in the state of assignment
- Certification: National Board of Surgical Technologists (NBSTSA) or Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) preferred
- Education: Associate degree or certificate in Surgical Technology
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent related experience; cardiovascular/heart experience required
- Certifications: CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor (preferred)
