Household Manager & Family AssistantLocation: Lake Houston, TX 77044Employment Type: Part-Time | 20–25 hours per weekProposed Schedule: A longer anchor day on Mondays with shorter shifts on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (or two longer days with one shorter shift) - also open to a short Saturday shift as well. Flexible, non-daily schedule preferred. Schedule can shift week to week based on family needs. No Sundays.Compensation: $28–$32 per hour, plus mileage reimbursement. Our home is our sanctuary — a well-loved space with expansive outdoor living areas that we truly enjoy and take pride in keeping tidy and welcoming.One of us works from a home office with a demanding and sometimes unpredictable schedule that includes travel; the other is home full-time as the primary caregiver for our energetic and sweet four-year-old daughter, who attends school a few mornings per week. We also share our home with our lovable 64-pound rescue hound who is very much part of the family.We live at a comfortable pace — mornings are relaxed, afternoons vary, and we genuinely enjoy our home and lake life. While we have some household support in place, we're looking for someone who can come in as a true household partner — someone who takes ownership, sees what needs doing, and handles it without needing to be asked twice.We really do take pride in a home that feels calm, organized, and cared for — and we're looking for someone who values that, too. A few of the more physical household tasks can be challenging for our primary caregiver, which is why this role matters so much to our family. You understand that working in someone's home means respecting their rhythms and their space. You're present when needed and occupied elsewhere when the family has downtime. You're not someone who needs direction for every task or who gravitates toward the family's living spaces when you should be running errands or tackling the outdoor areas.You are high-energy and playful with little ones, but you also know how to toggle seamlessly between childcare mode and household manager mode depending on the week. You're proactive, punctual, dependable, and genuinely proud of the work you do. You are not intimidated by outdoor spaces — in fact, you're comfortable heading outside to tidy the dock area, reset the porch, or coordinate with vendors on seasonal maintenance projects.Key ResponsibilitiesHousehold Organization & MaintenanceMaintain and improve household organization systems throughout the homeCoordinate and execute the weekly Monday house reset alongside the house cleaner, including resetting common areas and preparing the home for the week aheadDaily light tidying: dishes, countertops, surfaces, and high-traffic areasWeekly refresh of the garage, mudroom, and entrywaySeasonal décor swaps and holiday/event/guest preparationCoordinate donation drop-offsPacking and unpacking support for major tripsMaintain a household maintenance calendar (battery replacements, light bulbs, smoke detectors, water filters every 6 months, etc.)Deep Cleaning & Special ProjectsOccasional deep cleans of appliances, baseboards, and specialty areasOrganizational projects for toys, gear, and storage areasWilling to learn and take on new maintenance projects like conditioning leather furniture, helping to hang pictures, etc. Ability to work alongside primary caregiver on other home projects (like cleaning a rug, or appliance).Inventory & ErrandsIn-person grocery shopping for fresh food and produce (delivery options available as needed, with quality oversight)Restock pantry, refrigerator, and household suppliesManage running supply lists and household subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)Handle returns, weekly dry cleaning pickup and drop-off, and gift shopping as neededOpen, sort, and put away packages; break down boxesMeal SupportPrepare approximately two one-pan/one-pot dinners per week with leftovers (four meals total)Stock the fridge with ready-to-use ingredients for easy lunches and snacksPrepare and stock daughter's school lunches and snacksClean, wash and prep fresh produce after grocery shoppingMaintain a tidy kitchen — wipe down counters before end of shift dailyLaundry & LinensWash, fold, and put away household laundry including towels, linens, and daughter's clothingWeekly dry cleaning pickup, drop-off, and garment steamingCoordinate linen rotation with the house cleanerKeep laundry areas tidy and well-stockedVehicle UpkeepKeep the family vehicle clean, fueled, and organizedSchedule routine maintenance and track registration and insurance renewalsVendor & Property OversightWeekly outdoor space reset: tidy toys, reset covered porch and outdoor living areas, manage seasonal décor, and maintain general ownership of exterior spaces (not heavy manual labor, but active oversight and light tidying)Research and coordinate repairs and contractor quotes; handle small fixes independently and flag larger items for family reviewSchedule and be present for seasonal and quarterly property maintenance: mulching, pressure washing (house, driveway, dock, and pier), window washing twice yearly, annual furniture and rug cleaning, tree trimming, and outdoor cushion careManage special and quarterly household projects as they ariseFamily SupportFlexible backup childcare as needed throughout the weekOccasional school pick-ups and drop-offsPrepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks as part of house reset daysDate night coverage (occasional evenings)Calendar management via Skylight, including household schedules and remindersPossible travel to the family's vacation property once per year for about a month (late summer) to support childcare during the family's stayOccasional pet support - e.g. letting dog outside, feeding as neededHow to ApplyPlease submit the following to be considered:A short intro letter telling us a bit about yourself and why this role is a great fit.An updated resume.Three professional references with names, relationships, and contact information.Please note:
