Job Title Travel RN – Neonatal ICU – Charlotte, North Carolina. Assignment Overview Specialty: NICU – Neonatal Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) Employment Type: Travel Number of openings: 1 Environment and Patient Census 53-bed NICU unit with an average patient census of 58, located within a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital. High-acuity, fast‑paced neonatal environment caring for a wide range of complex diagnoses such as respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and GI/GU/systemic conditions. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3. Responsibilities Provide advanced patient and family care in a 12‑hour day shift (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) within the 53‑bed NICU. Manage invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP), ventilator and tracheostomy care, chest tube management, CRRT care, oral/nasal suctioning, g‑tube/j‑tube and feeding tube management, epidural and PCA management, sedation and analgesic drip management, Foley insertion and management, aseptic and sterile technique, basic dressing changes, EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring), HOFV management, Alaris and Medfusion pump management, and bedside procedure support. Float to similar units (Neonatal PCU, General Peds, Pediatric CVICU, or PICU) if required and if qualified. Support unit culture of teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility. Qualifications Active NC or compact RN license. Current BLS and NRP certifications. Minimum 2 years of Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience, most recent within the last year. Epic EMR experience required. Must be comfortable in a high‑acuity, fast‑paced NICU environment. Experience with baby side of ECMO preferred; manager has shown flexibility on EVD, ICP, ECMO, and CRRT experience. Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration. Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN. Additional Information Unit support includes a unit secretary every shift, 24/7 charge nurse, 24/7 IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurse, 24/7 RT, 24/7 intensivist, in‑house residents and APPs, centralized and bedside telemetry monitoring, unit‑based educators (AM and PM), and 6 clinical supervisors. Orientation includes 2 days of departmental onboarding (NEO program). First‑time travelers may be considered with manager approval, depending on current staffing levels. Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted. Former employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being considered. Rubric for attire: scrub color navy, long‑sleeve shirts solid navy or white, scrubs not tight; pediatric‑friendly scrub tops preferred. Organizational branded attire from other facilities not permitted. “Bare Below Elbow” policy enforced in nurseries: no watches, jewelry (including rings), or artificial nails allowed.
