Student Services Advisor I

Position Overview The USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising & Administration is seeking a Student Services Advisor I to join its centralized academic advising team. The advisor will support undergraduate students majoring or minoring in one of the three clusters (Humanities, Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences) by helping them understand degree requirements, develop academic plans, and integrate co‑curricular opportunities. Responsibilities Provide academic advising for undergraduate students, including guidance on degree requirements, curriculum planning, course selection, transfer credit evaluation, and opportunities such as research, study abroad, and internships. Support student retention, progress, and graduation for students in the identified clusters. Monitor student performance, course plans, and academic records. Evaluate student issues (academic, personal, or administrative) and refer students to appropriate student support services within Dornsife and beyond. Stay updated on curriculum, course offerings, and cluster‑related opportunities. Apply foundational advising skills to support the entire student experience. Manage multiple majors and minors within assigned clusters and focus areas. Maintain knowledge of university policies and procedures related to curriculum, transfer credit, degree requirements, course evaluations, petitions, and other student services. Support and coordinate academic and co‑curricular programs, collaborating with campus partners on behalf of the student population. Represent Dornsife academic advising at student‑related events such as welcome events, commencement, and transfer student orientations. Liaise with identified departments to ensure up‑to‑date information is provided to advising teams. Develop and maintain relationships with faculty and administration based on cluster and focus area. Interface with parents as needed and provide resources to facilitate problem resolution. Maintain professional knowledge through participation in associations, committees, workshops, and networking opportunities. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. 1‑3 years of experience in student services, advising, or a related field. Knowledge of USC student programs, academic policies, procedures, and the student information system. Combined experience and education may substitute for the minimum requirements. Compensation and Work Arrangements The hourly rate for this position ranges from $29.30 to $33.87. The position is hybrid/on‑campus. EEO Statement USC is an equal‑opportunity employer.
