Payroll Specialist

As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining and entering accurate and timely HR information and payroll data into the payroll system. You will analyze and input timecard data to the computerized payroll system, ensuring confidentiality of all company, employee, and customer data. Your role is crucial in ensuring employee wages are paid in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and in resolving any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll changes including new hires, promotions, terminations, transfers, leaves of absence, garnishments, manual checks, and various payroll deductions.
• Ensure compliance with payroll controls to achieve error-free payroll and detect discrepancies before they affect employee checks.
• Respond accurately and timely to management and employee inquiries and consult with others as needed to resolve issues.
• Track and submit certified reports to ensure compliance for prevailing wage jobs.
• Scan, archive, and file payroll-related documents, adhering to company policies and procedures for document handling and retention.
• Cultivate strong working relationships with internal and external customers, reflecting and supporting the company's core values.
• Set up new hires and maintain masterfile, process terminations and garnishments.

Essential Skills

• 2-5 years of Payroll experience.
• Experience with union payroll.
• Proficiency in Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with in-house payroll systems.
• Reconciliation skills.
• Union experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This position is part of the Eastern Business Unit's payroll team, specifically supporting a newly acquired business in Allentown, PA, with around 100-120 employees. The work location is in a classical building that dates back to the 1920s. Initially, the role requires onsite presence, with potential hybrid flexibility once training is complete and processes are in place. The payroll team is experiencing growth, expanding to over 20 individuals. The role involves handling PA payroll compliance and taxes, with a focus on union payroll processed weekly. No certified payroll reporting is required, as a dedicated team handles this responsibility.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
