Job Details Location: Bloomington Normal Store – Normal, IL 61761 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School or GED Salary: $19.75 - $19.75 per hour Travel: Occasional Shift: Any Category: Retail Job Summary The Assistant Store Manager works in collaboration with the Store Manager to manage all aspects of store operations, including collecting donations, processing donations, sales, managing staff, financial performance, and loss control activities. The role is developmental with the goal of advancing to a Manager position. Essential Job Duties Oversee store operations in the Store Manager’s absence Direct activities of store employees and volunteers to ensure sales transactions and donated goods are processed and reported accurately Communicate the organization’s mission, vision, and values and promote diversity Train, coach, and provide feedback to help staff strengthen and develop skills Ensure store staff follows policies and procedures Assist the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, documenting, and communicating staff performance and behavioral issues Demonstrate leadership and positive role modeling for retail staff Report loss control concerns to the Store Manager in a timely manner Effectively manage time and monitor retail staff time to ensure that work is completed Assume responsibility and accountability for the completion of job duties Ensure proper maintenance and care of equipment, machinery, and facilities Follow general housekeeping standards and maintain a clean and organized sales floor Work with the Store Manager in developing and managing the store’s budget Assist the Store Manager to maximize the store’s financial performance and achieve desired results Maintain quality control in retail operations Contribute to team success by involving others in work processes, decisions, and actions Perform bank deposits and related cash‑handling duties Fulfills safety captain duties in the absence of a designated safety captain Fill in for store staff as needed Travel within the LLGI territory to support the organization’s needs Perform other tasks as assigned Competencies Adaptability Managing Conflict Stress Tolerance Communication Tenacity Urgency Coaching DelegatingBuilding Trust Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 2 years of retail experience with at least 1 year supervising others Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and point-of-sale software Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; proof of insurance and reliable transportation CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within six months of employment DSP training or ability to complete within one year (for locations with service participants) Confidentiality of LLGI operations, financial, and personnel matters Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use payroll and point-of-sale systems Demonstrates sensitivity and communication with a diverse population; promotes diversity and inclusion Maintains high level of professionalism, integrity, ethical behavior; follows LLGI policies Consistency and punctuality in attendance Embraces LLGI mission, vision, and values Clear verbal communication skills Works independently while fostering a strong team atmosphere Physical Requirements Lift/move up to 50 pounds; operate shelving up to 10 feet; bend, reach into gaylords 5 feet; perform combination tasks such as stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling; stand for long periods; demonstrate visual acuity and sensitivity to smells. Environmental Conditions Light industrial/warehouse environment with exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, mold, metals, rubber, plastics, latex, pet hair; occasional travel.
