Senior Engineer Manager, Hyperdisk Inventory Optimization Performance Location: Kirkland, WA, USA. This role, part of the Hyperdisk Inventory Optimization team, focuses on high-performance storage solutions for Google Cloud. Overview As an Advanced level Senior Engineer Manager, you will own outcomes, make decisions, solve ambiguous problems, and influence stakeholders, leveraging deep domain expertise. About the job We are building a team that will deliver world‑leading performance for Google's Hyperdisk family of products. The position involves managing engineering teams across multiple locations, handling a large product budget, and overseeing large‑scale project deployments internationally. The role will also involve collaboration with teams in distributed systems, networking, security, and AI to advance storage capabilities. Responsibilities Lead managers and executive contributors to develop a bold roadmap and organize the team to deliver it. Partner with and influence Director‑level and above stakeholders across the company. Lead the team with empathy and support each individual's growth. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role. 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. 5 years of experience in distributed storage (e.g., cloud storage, object stores). Experience with storage as a service and machine learning. Preferred qualifications Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field. 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Baby Bonding Leave: 18 weeks. Holidays: 13 paid days per year. Compensation US: $262,000 - $365,000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits.
