Housekeeping Attendant

Description

The Housekeeping Attendant is selected by and reports to the Facilities Manager. Under general supervision the Housekeeping Attendant cleans and services the clinic building area, and performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the clinic in an orderly and sanitary condition. Performs other duties as required to achieve organizational goals and program objectives.

Housekeeping Attendants function as a member of a collaborative health care team to create and maintain a Patient Centered Medical Home where emphasis is on excellent communication; support of the patient is provided and tracked in a culturally competent, behaviorally enhanced setting supported by information technology.

Due to the nature of New Horizon Health Center (NHHC) services, it may become necessary to require employees to work extended hours or other variation of the usual shift to ensure adequate care of patients and to maintain services to the community.

CRITICAL JOB ELEMENTS/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

I. Must be professional in dealing with employees, patients and the public via personal and telephone contacts. Demonstrate positive attitude towards patients with good eye contact, pleasant voice, attentive and responsive to their needs.

II. General Cleaning
1. Washes walls, ceiling and windows by hand using water, cleaning solutions, sponges and cloths.
2. Cleans lighting fixtures, window tops, doorframes and other high places, using a ladder when necessary.
3. Washes sinks and other plumbing fixtures, attends to water coolers, and replenishes disposable such as towels, soap and toilet paper.
4. Disinfects areas by scrubbing or spraying. Requests assistance in moving heavy objects.
5. Monthly does dusting of clinic/office area (desks, chairs, PC, etc...) as assigned or needed.
6. Conference Room set ups - arranging chairs, tables, equipment
7. Maintains monthly facility checklist for the each room.
8. Assist in cutting yard using weed eater, lawnmower and/or tractor some pushing/pulling.
9. Assist in cleaning A/C, vents as well as RTU's and replaces air filters

III. Floor Maintenance
1. Sweeps and vacuums.
2. Mops with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent spread of disease.
3. Cleans floors and baseboards
4. Maintains floors on daily basics - using the floor equipment provided.
5. May assist in polishing floor using buffing machines


IV. Trash Disposal
1. Gathers and disposes of trash; washes wastebaskets and large refuse containers and relines with plastic bags.
2. Collects red trash and transports it to the red trash area according to Safety and Infection Control procedures.
3. Collects and disposes red trash as necessary following safety procedures.

V. Minor Repair Duties
1. Reports any mechanical failures, safety hazards, or negative conditions as observed in assigned area for preparation of work order to the Purchasing and Facilities Manager.
2. May assist in minor maintenance, mechanical/electrical repairs/projects as needed.

VI. Will perform other duties as required.


VII. Must follow the dress code policy in conformity to the department and the Employee Handbook policy.


VIII. Abides by the regulations, protocols and policies as indicated in the NHHC Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, OSHA standards and Safety policies.

IX. Must maintain confidentiality at all times according to Center policies and HIPAA rules.


X. It is mandatory that the employee actively participates in the Performance Improvement programs of NHHC.


XI. Requirements

Experience and Requirements:

§ G.E.D. or High School Diploma preferred.


§ Experience in working at a health clinic or hospital preferred.

§ Current Texas Drivers License and own transportation to travel from site to site.

§ Work flexible schedules including weekends and evenings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

§ Ability to speak read and follow instructions in English and Spanish preferred.

§ Ability to take calls on off-hours.

§ Knowledge of general indoor and outdoor maintenance.

§ Employee will travel to other clinic sites.

§ Manual ability to perform such tasks as mopping, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing and moving minor equipment or furniture


§ Work is moderately heavy; considerable walking and standing.

§ Pushing and pulling of mops, brooms, electric and battery operated equipment.

§ Occasional stooping, kneeling and crouching in disposing of refuse, mopping floors, cleaning fixtures, also requiring reaching, handling and fingering.

§ Frequent contact with water and strong cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

§ Lifting approximately 25 lbs.
