Mechanical Engineer

A growing manufacturer specializing in electrical equipment and custom-engineered products, including control panels, switchboards, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, transformers, and power distribution solutions. The company continues to invest in engineering, manufacturing, and new product development as it expands its capabilities. About the Role We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support and lead new product development for electrical equipment, including control panels and switchboards. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on taking products from initial concept through design, prototyping, testing, and production. The ideal candidate is a creative and technically strong engineer who enjoys solving problems, working with 3D CAD, developing physical prototypes, and collaborating with manufacturing and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Lead mechanical design and development for new products, including control panels and switchboards. Develop innovative design concepts using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software. Create multiple design concepts and perform trade-off studies to determine the best solution based on performance, cost, manufacturability, and project requirements. Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the product development process. Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies. Plan and manage engineering projects, including scope, schedules, costs, milestones, and completion dates. Develop physical prototypes to evaluate design feasibility and performance. Create and execute test plans and use results to validate and improve product designs. Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to move projects from concept through production. Create detailed part drawings, material BOMs, and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). 2-5 years of experience in new product development engineering. Minimum 2 years of experience with Creo or similar 3D modeling/CAD software. Strong working knowledge of: Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Design for Assembly (DFA) Product development and concept testing Preferred Qualifications Experience with control panel or switchboard design. Experience with bus bar design. Understanding of electrical schematics. Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME). Experience taking products through the full development cycle from concept → design → prototype → testing → production.
