Assistant Manager

Overview We are looking for an experienced and skilled Assistant Manager who will run a store effectively and with attention to detail. The assistant manager will assist the General Manager (GM) in executing specific aspects of the restaurant operations, which may include financial performance, product production, inventory, personnel, sales, and marketing. Set high standards and create a great environment for the team to work. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the GM. Functions Operations Manage entire operation of the restaurant during scheduled shifts, striving for operational levels that meet or exceed fan expectations in quality, service, and atmosphere, creating value through an excellent experience and fair price. Accurately complete designated duties such as inventory control, product ordering, and cash control. Training Ensure that shift leads and crew are trained and fully knowledgeable on all systems and routines, product recipes, food safety practices, and restaurant safety practices. Integrate all systems and routines into day‑to‑day operations, setting each scheduled shift up for success. Business Planning Assist in executing the restaurant’s business plan as directed by the GM, taking advice from the owner, GM, consultants, field staff, or territory operator. Respond to issues impacting profit and loss to optimize sales and profit by analyzing costs and taking corrective action, maintaining inventory, projecting demand changes, adjusting labor, ensuring cash control, and understanding the implications of workers’ compensation claims. Develop and implement strategies to increase average meal checks and fan visit frequency. Fan Service Ensure fan service meets or exceeds company standards. Set standards for handling customer concerns. Address complaints promptly and appropriately to turn dissatisfied customers into regular fans. Understand the importance of speed of service and resolve workflow bottlenecks. Build relationships with repeat or preferred patrons. Team Member Leadership Assist the GM with hiring, training, coaching, and developing shift leads and crew to build a highly skilled, productive team. Conduct thorough training and new hire orientations, communicate job expectations, monitor performance, and provide ongoing, helpful feedback. Model and enforce policies and procedures. Prepare hourly employee schedules to meet staffing requirements for each day part and seasonal demands, with GM approval. Foster a cooperative, pleasant working climate to maximize morale, productivity, and efficiency. Health and Safety Standards Prioritize food safety training, ensuring hand washing, product rotation, and temperature logging are performed. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy environment by enforcing sanitation and legal regulations and maintaining security systems. Know how to react in emergencies such as accidents or robberies. Store Marketing Suggest ideas to attract new fans and increase sales through marketing promotions and activities. Assist with local marketing projects, community relations, competitor analysis, and tracking consumer demand shifts. Qualifications Experience Needed Minimum 1–3 years of high‑volume restaurant leadership experience, required. Quick‑service experience strongly preferred. High school diploma or equivalent, required. Proven track record of effectively managing costs and labor. Strong knowledge and application of safe food handling practices. Must be ServSafe certifiable. Skills/Competencies Needed Customer focus – strong hospitality and customer service skills, enjoying engagement with customers. Trainer and coach – ability to train and coach on restaurant routines, systems, and customer interaction. Management skills – track record of coaching, training, and resolving employee relations issues. Motivation and positive environment. Organization and goal focus – highly organized and detail‑oriented, able to oversee multiple areas simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Goal achievement – actively work to achieve and exceed set business goals. Technical – proficiency with computers and point‑of‑sale systems.
