Associate Degree Nursing Program Director

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, oversees division specific program to include clinical and didactic portions, accreditation, budget and administrative needs of program and college. Provides leadership to help ensure the quality and success of the program. The program director works as a liaison with external clinical affiliates for the benefit of the program.

InstructionTeaches program specific courses in a classroom/lab/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in thefield.Evaluation and advisement of students in a didactic/clinical setting - 20%

Clinical Safety/TechnologyEnsures safety and security requirements are met in the disciplineareaEnsures all clinical equipment is in workingorderSuggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within the field. - 20%

Curriculum/Student and Program Learning OutcomesDevelops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives based on state standards; prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for division specific program courses; evaluates students' progress in attaining goals andobjectives.Establishes, measures, and evaluates program or departmental student learning outcomes and ensures content and instructional activities are integrated into course delivery that will result in students achieving desired outcomes, documenting their attainment and reporting within the Taskstreamsystem.Correlation of clinical education with didactic education using approved curriculum formatResponsible for development and course edits to Blackboard master courseshells;Periodic revision and selection of course materials including text books, instructional supplement and aids and online educational resourcesReview and revision of program handbooks/materialsCoordinates, reviews and recommends program expenditures for program needs within established budget parameters and administrative procedures. - 20%

Accreditation/Program AssessmentMaintains appropriate accreditation for the program; has current knowledge of accreditation policies andprocedures;Attends program accreditation professionaldevelopment.Maintains assurance of effective program operations and manages ongoing program assessment. - 30%

Supports Discipline/DivisionPlans and participates in program advisory committee, ensures minutes, Plan of Work and committee membership list are uploaded to Knightshare in a timely manner.Consults with the appropriate Dean or Associate Dean on full-time and adjunct faculty staffing needs. Participates in and may help with the search and selection activities for adjunctfaculty.Mentors new full-time and adjunctfaculty.Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placementefforts.Position may require committee and project assignments or other duties as assigned as well as day/evening/distance learning classes and activities. - 5%

Required Education and Experience

• Master's degree in Nursing
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Georgia
• At least three (3) years of teaching experience in a nursing education program leading to initial registered nurse licensure or completion of a higher degree in nursing

Preferred Education and Experience

• Knowledge of current trends in education, state and local academic program curricula, and academic course standards.
• Knowledge of ACEN accreditation process, standards, site visit, etc.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, Email, Windows, Microsoft Office, KMS, Blackboard, Banner, TaskStream

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional classroom/lab/clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office/classroom/lab equipment and technologies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time administrative/instructional position. Work load is Monday-Friday with possible evenings or weekends based on needs.

Travel

Travel to other campuses and clinical affiliates is a possibility for meetings, trainings, and professional development.
