Metal Deburr Technician

Hoosier Precision Machining is a fast-growing precision manufacturing company specializing in high-quality machined metal and plastic components for the Aerospace and Medical Device industries . We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Metal Deburr Technician to join our 1st shift manufacturing team .

This is a critical production role responsible for deburring, finishing, and secondary processing of precision-machined components to ensure they meet strict customer, aerospace, and medical quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing, machining support, deburring, finishing, or production operations , with strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail.

This is a highly cross-functional manufacturing position supporting deburring, bead blasting, tumbling, polishing, cleaning, assembly, and part marking in a fast-paced precision machine shop environment.

Responsibilities / Duties

• Perform precision deburring of machined metal components using hand tools, rotary tools, abrasives, grinders, files, and other deburring equipment
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, surface imperfections, and machining residue while maintaining dimensional integrity and tolerance requirements
• Perform secondary finishing operations including:
• • Bead blasting
  • Tumbling
  • Buffing / polishing
  • Benching
  • Grinding
  • Surface finishing
• Inspect machined parts for burrs, cosmetic defects, damage, incomplete finishing, and nonconforming conditions
• Work closely with Quality Control / Inspection to ensure deburring and finishing activities do not impact fit, form, function, or blueprint tolerances
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, shop travelers, work instructions, and customer specifications
• Accurately record labor transactions and production activity in the Vantage ERP system
• Support additional manufacturing operations as needed, including:
• • Pin installation
  • Precision cleaning
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Part marking / identification
• Maintain clean workstations, tools, and production areas in accordance with manufacturing standards
• Escalate quality concerns, production issues, or defects to leadership as needed
• Support production schedules while maintaining high quality and workmanship standards

Qualifications / Requirements

• Previous experience in deburring, manufacturing, machining, secondary operations, metal finishing, production, assembly, fabrication, or machine shop environments
• Experience working with precision-machined metal components strongly preferred
• Aerospace, medical device, CNC machining, or high-precision manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with:
• • Hand tools

  • Grinders
  • Buffing / finishing equipment
• Strong understanding of quality standards, dimensional tolerances, and defect identification
• High attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods during the shift
• Frequent repetitive hand movement and fine-detail work
• Ability to handle small precision parts safely and accurately
• Ability to lift materials and components as required
• Strong visual acuity for inspection of machined parts and surface conditions
