Child and Youth Program Assistant CY-01/02.

Responsibilities Provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years in Child and Youth Services (CYS) programs. Supervises and accounts for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events. Assists in implementing planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials, including group and individual activities. Arranges for or serves appropriate snacks or meals. Identifies and responds to emergency situations, including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs. Conditions of Employment Direct deposit and Social Security Card are required. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment. A one‑year probationary period may be required. Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check. Must pass background checks and maintain a favorable adjudication. Position requires immunization against communicable diseases, including the influenza vaccine, and passing a pre‑employment physical. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. For child development center positions, must have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis. Must have adequate visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth and respond promptly when needed. Legally required to report all suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect. Must complete all Department of War and Service training requirements on time, including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training. May work evenings, weekends, and holidays and both indoors and outdoors, including occasional field trips. Entry‑Level Qualifications (CY‑01) At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Effective verbal and written communication in English.
