Education Programs Consultant

Under general supervision, the Education Programs Consultant independently investigates and processes complaints and due process decisions involving alleged violations of federal and state special education laws. The EPC reviews allegations; analyzes evidence; coordinates with complainants, local educational agencies (LEAs), nonpublic schools, and internal staff; and prepares detailed investigation reports with findings, conclusions, and corrective actions within required timelines. Responsibilities include providing statewide technical assistance, conducting onsite visits when needed, researching current special education laws, trends, and legal decisions, and ensuring LEA compliance with corrective actions. The EPC also reviews and edits colleagues' work, prepares written correspondence, delivers technical presentations, participates in meetings, keeps supervisors informed, and supports the mission of the Office of Dispute Resolution.

Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary range(s) shown on this job posting does not reflect the salary reduction.
