Rehabilitation Associate Therapy (20 hrs, Mon-Fri) Job ID: 0007GP Therapy Support Services Part Time - Day Job Description The Rehabilitation Associate‑Therapy provides therapeutic assistance with activities of daily living, mobility, and physical care needs of patients. They deliver rehabilitative and technical care under the direction of licensed personnel including occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech‑language pathologists. Work is performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, and focuses on quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna. Essential Functions Coordinate patient care by understanding and utilizing rehabilitation program policies, procedures, and job descriptions. Review daily patient schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Objectively report clinical observations to the supervising clinician. Maintain inventory of supplies and order new supplies as indicated. Produce and follow accurate daily RA schedules. Follow direction from occupational therapist in patient activities of daily living and provide direction to unlicensed assistive personnel. Follow direction from physical therapist in patient mobility and transfer needs. Follow direction from speech therapist in patient activities related to feeding and swallowing. Follow instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned to achieve departmental and system goals. Instruct and mentor new staff in rehab program environment and operational policies. Communicate with occupational/physical/speech therapists and other clinical staff regarding patient condition, changes, concerns, and developments to ensure quality service delivery. Communicate with patients, families, and co‑workers respectfully to maintain a positive customer‑oriented approach. Receive direction from a licensed clinician and provide assistance with components of interventions to meet patient goals. Assist occupational, physical, and speech therapists and other treating personnel in patient treatment. Assist with patient group sessions as directed by supervisory staff, including eating groups. Participate and assist in department and facility committees and/or task forces. Prioritize customer relations and continually strive to satisfy customer needs. After completion of cardiac monitoring education, provide cardiac monitoring and set‑up for scheduled therapy sessions and report adverse patient conditions to appropriate clinical personnel. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. Handle and operate necessary equipment, including computer software applications, and perform required duties according to established safety standards. Set up equipment and supplies needed for treatment and clean up during and after sessions. Apply routine modalities of hot packs, cold packs, and paraffin as directed. Operate stethoscope, sphygmomanometers, tympanic thermometer, patient lifts, transfer devices, wheelchairs, and bed scales. Route mail to appropriate personnel or departments in a timely fashion to support smooth information flow. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions Medium work with frequent lifting. Requires pulling/lifting force of about 50 pounds to transfer a 250‑pound patient. Adequate strength to push a wheelchair with a 300‑pound individual on level surfaces. Constant walking up to 30 minutes, standing up to 1 hour, sitting up to 1 hour, frequent reaching, grasping, stooping, bending, and twisting. Requires normal visual, hearing, and speaking skills. May be exposed to biohazardous materials and to patients who are agitated or aggressive. Qualifications Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant. Six months of previous nursing assistant experience preferred. Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of a good driving record preferred. Incumbent must be 18 years of age or older. CPR for Health Care Provider/CPR Professional Rescuer is optional. Background Check Background checks are conducted.
