Job Overview

The Lead Technician is a critical shop leadership role responsible for coordinating workflow, setting daily priorities, and helping ensure jobs move efficiently through the rebuildshop. Unlike lead roles in other locations that may be more hands-on with revenue work, this position is more heavily focused on planning, job coordination, parts readiness, and scope accuracy. This role works closely with internal partners to keep operations running smoothly and support high-quality execution on large mining equipment repairs and maintenance.

This position is onsite Monday - Thursday in our Mesa shop. The onsite sayscan vary based on business needs.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Coordinateshop workflow and determine job priorities based on business needs.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to decide which jobs should be completed first and ensure smooth execution.
• Review and develop job scopes to support accurate planning and execution.
• Verify parts lists and confirm required materials are available before work begins.
• Working Lead position responsible for directing hourly workforce, flexibility in working overtime and weekends if needed to accomplish goals, departmental milestones, and deadlines.
• Supervise hourly workforce to Komatsu policies, procedures, 5S, and safety standards.
• Oversee quality of work and keep Cost of Poor Quality low as set by Komatsu.
• Coordinate Day-to-day operations of the heavy mechanical shop. This will include the RENEW application of Tear Down and Inspection thru Delivery.
• Ensure equipment is in top working condition by doing audits and maintenance.
• Perform field service maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels , primarily in open-pit mine environments
• Change and rebuild major shovel components (hoist, swing & propelltransmissions, & largegear cases)
• Diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot complex equipment systems

Qualifications/Requirements

• Able to work onsite in the rebuild shop in Mesa
• 5+ years of experience in performing maintenance and repairs on electric mining shovels or electric drive haul trucks, including rebuilding components and large gear cases
• Safety focused planning and performing complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, machining drawings, and Komatsu operating procedures.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Prior use with SAP preferred but not required
• Conduct daily safety and planning meetings with your direct reports. Periodic inspections of tooling and PPE.
• Proficient in a customer facing role.
