Analytics Engineer

Job Requirements Sweetwater, the nation’s #1 online retailer of pro audio equipment and music instruments is seeking to hire an Analytics Engineer to work closely with various teams within the organization. This role will partner with data engineers, data scientists, business intelligence developers, and business stakeholders to build and maintain our analytic data architecture, which is informed by business strategies and technical data knowledge. The individuals in each of these areas will serve as the Analytics Engineer focusing on projects and data for these specific areas in order to serve our need to provide top-of-the-line data and analytics, serving our internal stakeholders in an unprecedented manner. If this sounds like a challenge you are excited to take on, we would love to speak with you!Job Responsibilities Enable and unlock various analytics use cases for the merchandising & service teams by creating and maintaining data models & pipelines enriched with institutional and departmental knowledgeTransform and standardize raw data loaded into the data warehouse by the data engineering team; making it easy and efficient for end users to consumeCreate and maintain the semantic layer leveraged by our BI platformApply software engineering best practices to analytics code, including version control, testing, and continuous integration; engage in code reviews to ensure code changes don’t result in bad data or broken pipelinesMaintain data documentation & definitions and train users on data availability and structureMonitor overall health of the analytic data platform, avoid redundancy, identify data gaps, etc.Assist in occasional ad-hoc analysis or supplying data to support urgent business needsQualificationsAn ideal candidate will have technical competence balanced by an empathetic understanding of business needs(Merchandising & Service) Merchandising and/or service domain expertise: vendors & manufacturers, products & services, pricing, demand & planning, purchase orders & billing/credits, inspections, repairs & installs, backlogs & queues are part of everyday vernacular(DC & Shipping) Distribution Center & shipping domain expertise: experience supporting a large logistics operation with knowledge of various concepts and processes such as receiving, picking, & packing, returns, inspections(Marketing) Understanding of marketing tactics and principles, strategies, and how marketing plans drive revenue(Sales & Music Store) Retail Sales domain expertise: experience supporting a multi-channel sales organization with knowledge of the overall sales process, communications, common sales & retail sales KPIs and how to calculate them, customer knowledge, foot traffic, CRMs etc.Multiple years of experience in data design and ETLSQL knowledge is criticalProficiency with dbt and other modern data stack toolsUnderstanding of cloud data warehouse architecture and best practices, BigQuery experience a plusLooker/LookML knowledge is a plusExperience with git including CI/CD processesSelf-motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive Solid organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects easily while meeting deadlinesStrong communication skills with an ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organizationAbility to handle sensitive data in a confidential mannerPassion for Sweetwater, your team’s success, and the data products we are building for our internal customers Sweetwater "Ideal" Team-Player:WOWs The Customer - Deep passion and desire for creating amazing customer & colleague experiencesGet Things Done - Great work ethic and moves with a sense of urgencyObsesses over the Details – committed to paying attention to the detailsDrives Continuous Improvement – Always focusing on effective and efficient work and way to get betterDevelops the Future – committed to pursuit of growing personally & professionally and has a focus on bringing your colleagues along with you on that journeyWe function best as a unified team, so relocation to ourstate-of-the-art campusin Fort Wayne, INis required.
