Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Surgical PCU/Stepdown position requiring 2 years of progressive care experience and ACLS certification.

Job Details

• Fast-paced surgical overflow unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) caring for floor-status trauma and general surgery patients,
• Patient ratio of 1:3,
• Rotating 3x12 shifts covering both day (7:30-19:30) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts across all days of the week,
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts within a 6-week period, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights or Saturday and Sunday days,
• No on-call requirements,
• Floating required within scope to sister facilities as needed, including to Medical PCU or acute care/med surg units at a 1:5 ratio (may flex up on Med Surg),
• Uses Epic charting system,

Job Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required,
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred,
• Minimum 2 years of progressive care or intermediate care experience required,
• Stepdown or ICU RN background qualifies,
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred,
• Epic charting experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience preferred,
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management,
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management,
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of cardiac drips (titration required),
• Experience with heparin protocols and PCA administration,
• Familiarity with rapid response/code team protocols,
• Wound care and wound vac experience required,
• Tracheostomy care/management and surgical drain experience preferred,
• Experience with plastics/breast reconstruction with TRAM flap preferred,
• Pacemaker and pre/post cardiac surgery care experience preferred,

Additional Information

• Care for trauma and general surgery patient populations in a fast-paced surgical overflow environment,
• Comfortable managing cardiac telemetry monitoring and emergency dysrhythmia response,
• Navy scrub color required,
• Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment,
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restricted during select peak periods,
• First-time travelers are welcome, provided they are comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical overflow unit,
• Candidates previously employed by the health system may face eligibility restrictions,
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are accepted
