Senior Cyber Engineer

Position Overview Senior Systems Security (Cybersecurity) Engineer – Cedar Rapids, IA. Onsite role requiring active, transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret clearance on day one, with potential to obtain Top Secret after start. U.S. citizenship required. Responsibilities Support development of RMF documents and controls validation testing for Authority to Operate (ATO) accreditations. Ensure proposed system changes are reviewed so modifications do not adversely affect security. Implement security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating requirements. Support development of cybersecurity requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies. Analyze collected cybersecurity data and test results. Provide on‑site security engineering, systems administration, and information assurance support to the program. Work with Software Engineer and/or System Engineer to implement cybersecurity policies, harden the system, and document findings. Qualifications – Required Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with minimum 3 years of experience. Active, transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued clearance on day one, with ability to obtain Top Secret. Knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) as described in NIST SP 800‑37. Understanding of Systems Engineering requirements, specifications, and experience implementing DoD and Federal IA certification and accreditation processes. Experience developing and maintaining certification and accreditation documentation. Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable Security Center, STIG Viewer, SCAP Compliance Checker/Tools. Familiarity with Linux commands. Qualifications – Preferred Active, transferable top‑secret DoD clearance. DoDI 8570.01‑M IAT Level‑II Certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or equivalent). Previous experience with Program Protection Plans (PPP) DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5200.39. Experience with implementing highly technical solutions and reporting their importance to program managers and stakeholders. Compensation Salary range: 86,800USD – 165,200USD.
