Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Part-Time Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for repairing and maintaining our fleet of diesel-powered vehicles, including heavy trucks and other machinery used in waste hauling. This role requires deep knowledge of diesel engines, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular maintenance and diagnostic tests on diesel engines and mechanical components.
• Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Perform in-depth services and repairs on hydraulics, electrical systems, and transmissions.
• Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
• Follow checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, and brake and fuel systems.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair work.
• Ensure adherence to safety practices and compliance with regulations.
• Use hand tools like screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools like pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
• Assist in ordering parts and inventory management.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic.
• Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and the maintenance and repair of heavy trucks.
• Technical certification or degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must possess a full set of personal tools for vehicle and equipment repairs.
• Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery.

Working Hours:

• This part-time position requires flexibility. Working hours and shifts may vary, with the potential for weekend and evening shifts depending on business needs.

Compensation:
