This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job About the Role The Senior Director of Pricing will lead PetSmart’s enterprise-wide pricing strategy across all channels and markets — U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. This leader will ensure our pricing architecture reflects our Passion for Pets , our commitment to putting the Customer First , and our drive for Excellence in All We Do . Working collaboratively across merchandising, finance, marketing, IT, and operations, this roleis responsible forcreating pricing strategies that balance customer value, competitiveness, and profitability. The ideal candidate is a strategic, data-driven, and collaborative leader who thrives on building partnerships, leading with integrity, and empowering teams to succeed. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Collaboration Develop and execute PetSmart’s comprehensive pricing strategy acrossthe entire pricing lifecycle fromregular, promotional, and clearance, ensuring alignment with our business goals. Partner closely with merchandising, finance,store operations,,and marketing to ensure pricing reflects customer needs and delivers value,demonstratingour Customer First mindset. Serve as a ServantLeader by fosteringa culture of collaboration, belonging, and development and inspire a high functioning team to achieve challenging goals Build and sustain collaborative partnerships across departments and leadership levels, ensuring projects stay on track, insights are shared, and decisions are aligned. Represent the Pricing function in cross-enterprise initiativesimpactingpricing, promotions, and profitability, acting as a trusted partner and advocate for Team PetSmart . Analytics & Business Insights Leverage advanced analytics to understand pricing and promotional performance,identifytrends, and develop actionable insights. Synthesize complex data into compelling, fact-based stories that influence senior leaders and drive business decisions. Ensure pricing and promotional decisions support customer value, aligning with our Do What’s Right principle through integrity and data-backed recommendations. Technology, Tools & Vendor Management Partner with IT and external vendors to build, enhance, andoptimizepricing and data management systems. Lead with Excellence in All We Do byidentifyingopportunities to automate, streamline, and modernize pricing tools and workflows. Collaborate across technical and business teams to ensurenew technologiessupport scalability, accuracy, and improved decision-making. Process Excellence & Execution Own the end-to-end pricing and markdown execution process, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and clear accountability. Codify pricing guardrails and governance frameworks that uphold PetSmart’s commitment to Responsible Leadership and operational integrity. Partner with stores anddigitalteams to ensure consistent,timely, andaccuratepricing execution. Reporting & Performance Management Develop andmaintainpricing dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measurefinancial impact, customer value, and operational efficiency. Clearly communicate insights and recommendations to executive leadership using compelling data storytelling and a collaborative approach. Data Strategy & Governance Lead the development and governance of pricing andpromotionsmaster data architecture. Ensure data accuracy and accessibility, supporting our goal of Excellence in All We Do through robust processes and effective data stewardship. Leadership & Team Development Attract, develop, and mentor top pricing talent while fostering a culture of belonging, collaboration, and continuous learning that embodies Team PetSmart . Champion curiosity, innovation, and a growth mindset throughout the team to achieve sustainable business results. Experience & Qualifications 10+ years of progressive experience in pricing, analytics, merchandising, or financial strategy, ideally within retail or consumer goods . Provensuccess collaborating across functions and leadership levels to align strategy and deliver measurable results. Experience partnering with IT and external vendors to develop and enhance technology solutions and pricing systems. Deep analyticalexpertisewithdemonstratedsuccess using data to influence strategy and outcomes. Advancedproficiencyin Excel, PowerPoint, and tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Alteryx. Knowledge of SQL, data architecture, and pricing platforms (e.g., JDA,Relex, SAP). Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to inspire confidence and clarity across diverse audiences. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related fieldrequired; MBA preferred. Preferred Experience Background in merchandise planning, financial planning, or category management . Experience in omnichannel retail pricing and promotional strategy. Leadership in pricing transformation or data modernization initiatives.
