We are seeking a professional, energetic, and customer-focused Front Desk Receptionist / Patient Services Representative to serve as the first point of contact for our patients. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, possesses exceptional customer service skills, and can effectively manage multiple tasks while ensuring a positive patient experience.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, collecting payments, maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting the daily operations of the clinic. This role is critical to ensuring efficient patient flow and exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner.
Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility.
Collect copays, deductibles, self-pay balances, and outstanding patient payments.
Register new patients and accurately enter information into the EMR system.
Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow.
Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and efficiently.
Explain registration forms, consent forms, and patient policies.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Communicate effectively with providers, medical assistants, and management.
Resolve patient concerns and provide excellent customer service.
Scan, upload, and maintain patient records and documentation.
Assist with insurance verification and prior authorization processes as needed.
Monitor waiting areas and keep patients informed of wait times.
Support multiple clinic locations and travel between sites when necessary.
Qualifications
Required
Prior experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Room, Primary Care, or healthcare setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of insurance verification, eligibility checks, and patient registration.
Experience collecting patient payments and handling cash transactions.
Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to multiple locations.
Preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience with occupational medicine and workers compensation cases.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Experience in high-volume healthcare environments.
