Merck seeks a US Director of Medical Affairs for infectious diseases and vaccines focused on respiratory conditions. This remote role leads scientific strategy, field readiness, and cross-functional execution across medical affairs pillars including scientific exchange, clinical trials, and congressional engagement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement regional medical affairs strategies aligned with headquarters Value & Implementation goals
- Lead scientific engagement planning and ensure field medical activities generate actionable insights
- Identify field resource needs, prioritize training activities, and ensure strategically aligned content delivery
- Organize expert advisory boards and forums addressing new indications and emerging science
- Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to orchestrate regional training and best practice sharing
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, or PharmD) in relevant therapeutic area
- Minimum 5 years medical affairs experience or equivalent clinical/research background
- Minimum 3 years working in infectious disease/respiratory or closely related therapeutic area
- Proven strategic decision-making and planning capabilities
- Track record of execution excellence managing complex, multi-priority projects
- Demonstrated scientific expertise and subject matter knowledge in respiratory infectious diseases
