Mechanical Designer/Engineer

Mechanical Designer In this role, you will be a part of the Mechanical team, of the MEP Buildings sector (Life Science & Healthcare projects), based in Raleigh, North Carolina. What a day at EXP has in store for you: Revit or CAD proficient with working in 3D models Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams Prepare/ Review HVAC load and airflow calculations. Basic knowledge of Mechanical, plumbing and energy codes. Edit mechanical specifications to reflect the project requirements. Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases. Size, select and schedule equipment. Meet with vendors to determine specific equipment requirements for application. Coordinate with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc). Respond to RFIs for the project, and accurately review submittals. Solve installation problems during project construction. Manage time effectively based on the required design process for the project. Ability to deliver appropriate design level documentation based on project scope. Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc). Perform at a ‘responsible charge’ level; meeting exp’s design and quality levels. Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours. Write studies and reports for systems on projects. Write sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systems. Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as Constant Volume air systems, Variable air volume systems, hot and chilled water hydronic systems. Basic understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project. What your experience looks like: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering. Candidate should have an engineering degree in the field of mechanical engineering with 0-3 years of building HVAC design experience. Experience with time management and working in a team environment. EIT or Registered Professional Engineer preferred or the desire to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
