Production Employee

Employees in production use hand tools, knives, and equipment to prepare meat according to specifications and standards (safety, food safety, quantity) in preparation for further processing or packaging. The job is physically demanding, fast-paced, repetitive, and performed in close proximity with others in a culturally diverse work environment. The start time is between 4:55 am and 7 am according to position and production needs.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Use hand tools, knives, or equipment to perform work tasks.
• Work in a variety of working temperatures: warm, hot, humid, cold, wet, or slippery surfaces at different heights inside and around moving equipment and parts with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Avoid animal blood, carcass parts, and unpleasant odors.
• Stand on a hard surface or elevated platform throughout the shift; use ladders, steps, scaffolds, or platforms.
• Knife work requires good knife sharpening skills to meet production standards.
• Comply with all food safety policies and regulations.
• Adhere to and promote a strong safety culture. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate hazards in the workplace and correct or seek help to correct unsafe actions or conditions.
• Be respectful and able to work in a culturally diverse population.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

• Must be over 18 years old.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• 6 months of consecutive employment in the last year.
• Must be able to perform each essential task satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Willing and able to work extended hours from Monday to Saturday and overtime when necessary.
• Successfully completed trainings:
  • Safety.
  • Safe Food Quality (SQF).
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Food Defense
