Basic Job Functions: The Lead Caster Operator will be expected to create focus on safety for the entire NYS team, support the direction of our melting and casting operations, oversee the production process to ensure capacity demands and quality standards are met, help the casting team develop, and effectively manage projects that improve our casting operation. This person will also lead the team to safely conduct reactive and preventive maintenance of equipment to ensure efficient operations. This position will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. .Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Requirements: 5 Years or more of Caster Operational Experience in beam blank casting process Extensive technical knowledge of casting process in both silicon killed and aluminum killed casting processes Detailed Selection Criteria: Leadership Presence and Courage Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
Communication The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
Teamwork Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. Judgment/Decision Making Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Production and Processing Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Business Acumen General business knowledge and an understanding of how Nucor makes money.
